Hot Wheels® Battle Force 5™ makes its much anticipated series debut on Saturday morning, August 29 at 9:30 a.m. on Cartoon Network! The showing of the first two episodes to kick off the season is tentatively planned as well.
The original CG-animated series features an elite team of drivers and their ultra-fast, super-cool vehicles. The story begins with ordinary teens challenged to work together to save Earth. These not-so-ordinary teens join forces and become the Battle Force 5™ with five hot vehicles that change into armored battle machines. Reaching hyper speeds, they break into inter-dimensional BattleZones where they encounter the greatest threat Earth has ever known: The Sark™, an army of evil super-robots, and The Vandals™ a species of animal-like predators committed to conquering planet Earth. Needless to say, the bad guys have awesome vehicles, too. Tune in for an all-new Hot Wheels® adventure!
Last Sunday was Kid’s Day at Comic-Con 2009 and producer Audu Paden (Spider-Man: The New Animated Series) and director Johnny Darrel (Storm Hawks) presented a screening of the show and were joined by Hot Wheels® designers Josh Henson and Dave Sheltman for a behind-the-scenes view of how the series and the vehicles were created. The response at the Comic-Con 2009 event was phenomenal! While the entertainment property looks to be a big hit for Mattel, Inc. and Cartoon Network, Tim Kilpin, General Manager, Mattel Brands’ Girls, Boys & Games Division says, “In addition to the toy line, Battle Force 5 gives us a unique opportunity to bring the excitement of the show to life for boys through a variety of dynamic licensees, offering a wide range of products from apparel and role play to publishing and videogames.”
There is already a website -- www.battleforce5.com -- where kids of all ages can find out more about the series, watch videos and play cool games. Codes to unlock exclusive downloads on the website can be found on trading cards, comic books and posters inside the packages at participating retailers!
Hot Wheels® Battle Force 5™ has everything; cool cars, action, story, characters, action, cool cars, bad guys, adrenaline-pumping action, and did we mention the ultra-cool cars? If you don’t believe me go to the website and check out a clip yourself and then start working on your strategy for collecting. There will be two different assortments of 1:24 scale vehicles and figures, a 1:64 scale die-cast vehicle assortment with snap-on weapons, a track set and 1:64 two-pack assortment with a DVD containing the first episode. The full Hot Wheels® Battle Force 5™ line of vehicles will be sold at major retail stores nationwide beginning in October 2009.
Hot Wheels® Battle Force 5™ will also be airing internationally this fall, beginning with Canada’s TELETOON network, on Sunday, September 13. Other regions will be announced going forward on a case-by-case basis. Activision Publishing, Inc. is even translating the combat-style racing action of the epic series to Wii™ and Nintendo DS™ platforms this November. Gamers can choose to be members of the Battle Force 5™ team or one of the show’s malicious villains, The Sark™ and The Vandals™.
The first season of the all new action-packed adventure series will consist of 26 episodes of good vs. evil. Kids will definitely connect with the original stylized CG-animation and be transported to a fantastic world of adventure. Tune in, watch the battle, check out the vehicles in action and then as soon as they’re available be the first in line to pick up an original Battle Force 5™ vehicle! You know, for your nephew or whatever.
